States in India’s Parliament are represented in the Lok Sabha, the lower house, in proportion to their population size. The number of seats assigned to each state in the Rajya Sabha, or upper house, is fixed, ensuring equal representation for all states regardless of population.

Each state’s Legislative Assembly is in charge of establishing state-specific laws and regulating the operation of the state government. Members of the Legislative Assembly (MLAs) are elected by the people through a democratic vote.
